This is where we will add all our funny/great IGM stories. Feel free to structure this however you wish - separate page for each story, a page for each year, etc. This is just the home page as a starting off point.
Why Boats are Funny
When Professor Cascioli was in graduate school, he, along with another student, developed a water simulator for an independent study. It accurately depicted waves, a shoreline, etc using shaders and other fancy things. However, there was a distinct lack of boats. Professor Phelps suggest he add them so they could sail through the water. It took Cascioli about a week to get Phelps off of the idea. Fast forward to winter 2009, in one of his Game Software Development 2 sections. He was showing off the project to his class when the possible addition of boats was mentioned again. After repeatedly being asked, he responded in a not so positive manner. After that class, his students promised to never bring it up again. And by never bring it up, they meant make sure he never forgets it.
The Taco Argument
while(taco.Is(sandwich)==debatable) // Note: debatable is not an acceptable boolean value in most programming languages
{
Post(sequelitis.mega_man);
}
The first line of the above code is a reference to a long standing argument between several students that started in the spring of 2011. A cabal of students (MOSTLY freshmen at the time) proposed the idea that a taco can also be considered a sandwich. This was the beginning of a long debate which involved numerous other students as well as several faculty members, resulting in a posting war on the GDD Facebook page, and eventually escalating to the point of editing Wikipedia (the definition has since been updated, removing the changes made by the students in question). A conclusion was never reached over the discussion, and the topic resurfaces from time to time.
An End to the Debate
On September 18th, 2014 Professor The Reverend Doctor Jeremiah DeCausemaker Esquire with the assistance of the FOSSbox discovered a legal precedent that solves this debate.
Mega Man Sequelitis
The interior of the above code is in reference to a video by Egoraptor (as he is known on the internet). The said video is part of a short series of videos called "Sequelitis", which compare select games and their sequels. This video was posted multiple times to the RIT Game Design & Development Facebook group, probably due to the useful analysis regarding tutorials in the video, as well as Mega Man being a popular game among some IGM students. The multiple submissions became a joke that comes up every once in a while on the RIT Game Design & Development Facebook group.
