But why aren't independent studies listed here?
Due to a recent change within our department (as of the end of Spring Term of the 2011-2012 school year), we have very much standardized how we handle independent studies. Since there is a limit to how many there can be per semester, one would assume these would be listed as electives. However, since these independent studies are typically one time thing, it is usually your best bet to talk to the offering professor(s) in question, and to pay attention to sent out IGM announcements/emails to get information on what these classes will pertain to. If you have any questions about whether or not these courses are available, don't forget to utilize the IGM offices during office hours to get any help.
