Academic Details
Core class for GDD, Advanced Elective for NMID.
Prerequisites
Prereq is Game Design and Development I - 4080-380
Main Focus
The material in the class varies from instructor to instructor. Some treat the course as an extension of GDD I, with a more heavy focus on development as opposed to theory. Some instructors only focus on rapidly developing games in analog (board, card, etc) and/or digital (2d and 3d) space.
Expect to work in groups developing games. Design docs will also be required.
How to survive
(Assuming the class is only rapid prototyping) - Team communication is key. Look into using SVN, Google Docs or other ways to share information easily. Make sure everyone knows their part, deadlines, etc. Try to focus on the main mechanic of your game and not have to worry about every little feature. Once the core mechanic is working, you can build from there. AKA "Scope it down".
