Dear New RIT Faculty Member:

Welcome to RIT and New Faculty Orientation (NFO)! You are joining a wonderful community of outstanding teacher-scholars during an especially exciting time for this university.

NFO is just one of the many ways that RIT invests in the success of its faculty at all stages of their career. This two-day event will introduce you to critical information, resources, and where to get support for your teaching, scholarship, and service.

There are many opportunities to meet and network with faculty across campus during NFO 2013. What's more, we continue throughout the year with special programs and services specifically for new faculty, including:

  • Our Faculty Mentoring program that includes events designed just for you - the first is a POWER RECEPTION on September 13 where you will have a chance to mingle with President Bill Destler, Provost Jeremy Haefner, your Deans, Associate Deans, and other key RIT leaders.

  • Other things in the works for you include an info-session on the RIT Press and publishing at the  Wallace Center (September 25, 2013), Intersession offerings (January 2014), a Mid-Tenure Review Panel discussion (February 2014) and more. Watch your email "inbox" for details, and stay tuned to the FCDS website at:

As we continue to develop in our roles as educators and scholars, I expect this year to be filled with discovery, achievements, collegiality, fulfillment, and hopefully some fun!

Lynn Wild, Ph.D.

Associate Provost for Faculty Development and The Wallace Center
