What is a tribometer?
A tribometer is a device used that measures coefficient of friction, frictional forces between materials, and wear volume.
What are we doing?
For this project our team will be developing a soft tribometer used for materials such as PDMS, that have properties that do not allow them to be tested on a standard tribometer.
Who is our Customer?
Dr. Riu Lou is our customer for this project and we will be working with him closely to get a clear understanding of the customer requirements for this project, we will also continuously update him on our progress.
Who is our guide?
William Nowak will be our guide who will provide us with an outline and help with any course requirements and expectations.
What are our goals?
To develop a rigid soft tribometer that accommodates a torque and force sensor to collect frictional data, develop an optical solution to inspect proper test setup, use thrust-washer testing method, develop precisely regulated RPM.
