Project Summary

Project Information

Northern Hemisphere Gymnastics in Webster, NY is a gym that offers gymnastic classes and camps that feature American Ninja Warrior inspired obstacles to provide unique and fun experiences to their customers. The target demographic is children 6 to 15 years old, but much of the gym is also accessible to adults. The gym is primarily a large indoor facility that has begun to expand outdoors and currently has several additional Ninja Warrior themed obstacles featured there. They recently installed multiple telephone poles in the outdoor area to support additional obstacles.

The goal of this project is to design and create one or more obstacles for Northern Hemisphere Gymnastics in order to attract more customers to the Ninja Warrior courses. The new obstacles will be safely usable by both children and adults. The obstacles should match the Ninja Warrior theme and be adjustable for users of different ages, skills, or strengths. Key safety features that reduce or eliminate fall hazards, pinching, crushing, burns, and other related injuries should be integrated. The resulting obstacles should be weatherproof, durable, easy to maintain, easy to clean/disinfect, and minimize reset time. Upon completion of the project, the obstacles will likely be installed at the gym’s outdoor area and can be anchored to the existing telephone poles. The expected end product is a functional prototype for at least one safe obstacle that is appealing to customers of all ages, along with all design documentation.
