Position Copy can be used when changing a Position Title, a Position Organization, Job Category or any Combination Thereof… when a NEW versions needs to be created.

Whenever we change anything regarding a particular PC number always check when to date track it to (“Effective Date”) and any change will need to be accompanied by a new version number

Note: Whenever we create an interim position (OU) for a particular position, we do not eliminate the old or the actual position as eventually the original position will be filled and the interim position will be eliminated. 




Enter a batch name for record keeping purposes in “Name” You can use position number, version number (e.g. 001234.05).

Change the “Effective Date” 

Query current record by entering number, version and funding codes.  This ensures that only one record is returned.



On the next window, enter Active in the Hiring Status field, hit ENTER, and Query. Then Continue

Next, switch from “Original” to “New” tab. 

And enter the necessary change(s) in “Change List” and/or “Position Name”



Note: Any change to a position using Position Copy requires a new version number.




Hit “Create New” and “OK”.



Also enter the “Effective Date” (from before) in both “Start DateandEffective Date”:

Hit Submit

Review newly created PC 

Once the new PC has been created, query the position from Work Structures – Position – Description.  Click on […] to update Comp Codes (highlighted in Bold) 

Save as a correction.
