What is Xbox Remote Play?

Xbox Game Streaming is Microsoft's service for streaming a user's games directly from their Xbox to their smartphone or tablet. The Game Streaming Service will work even when the user's Xbox is not connected to the same RIT network as the user's smartphone or tablet.

Requirements

The following requirements must be met in order for Xbox Game Streaming to work properly.

1) The user's smartphone or tablet must have Android 6.0 or newer OR iOS 10.0 or newer.

2) The user's smartphone or tablet must have Bluetooth 4.0 or newer.

3) The user's Xbox must be and smartphone/tablet must be connected to 5ghz Wifi (2.4ghz is not optimal enough).

4) If at any point, the network speed drops below 10mbps, Xbox Remote Play will not work properly.

5) The user must have an Xbox Controller with bluetooth capability.

Troubleshooting

Update the User's Xbox

1) Press the Xbox button on the controller.

2) Choose Profile & System

3) Choose Settings

4) Choose System

5) Under Updates, press Console Update Available (If it says No Console Update Available, the Xbox is already up to date).

Turn On Remote Features

1) Press the Xbox button on the controller.

2) Choose Profile & System

3) Choose Settings

4) Choose Devices and Connections

5) Choose Remote Features

6) Check the box next to Remote Features and select Instant-On listed under Power Mode.

Other Troubleshooting Tips

1) Make sure the user has the latest version of the Xbox App on their smartphone or tablet.

2) Make sure the user is signed into their Microsoft Account both on their Xbox and smartphone or tablet.

3) Make sure the user has their Xbox Controller connected via bluetooth to their smartphone or tablet.

4) In the Xbox App, select the "My Library" tab and make sure the user's Xbox shows up:

5) Try launching the Xbox Remote Play Service by pressing the Remote Play Button in the Xbox App:
