A screenshot is picture of your computer screen or a portion of the screen. A screenshot can help support troubleshoot issues and provide documentation of an issue to share it with the vendor.
Once you have a screenshot you can email it to Academic Technology Support at tlsupport@rit.edu.
Taking a screenshot on Windows 8-11
- To take a screenshot of your entire screen: On your keyboard, press the Windows key
+ Print Screen (Prt Scr) key combination.
- To take a screenshot of the active window: Press the Alt+Print Screen (Prt Scr) key combination.
Screenshots are saved in your Screenshots folder.
To find the Screenshots folder:
- Open the File Explorer from the task bar, or press Windows key
+ E. - Windows will store the screenshots in the Pictures library, under Screenshots.
Taking a screenshot on Apple MacOS
- To take a screenshot of your entire screen: On your keyboard, press the Command key
+Shift+3 key combination.
- To take a screenshot of just a single window: Press the Command key
+Shift+4+Spacebar key combination, then click the window you want to take a screenshot of.
Screenshots will be saved on your Desktop.
