Name of Concept: RIT Smoke Free
Overview:
Wanted to make RIT campus cigarette free. Since we are more involve in making our campus more technological advance, why don't we also try to improve not only the health of certain students but all of us, by making the campus smoke free. Well smoke free for the entire campus maybe to much for right now, but at least make it that those who smoke, smoke at least 50ft away from the doorway. Because all the cigarette smokers always smoke right outside the doorway and the smoke and smell always make it right back into the buildings as soon as someone exit or enter the building. This would be a wonderful step toward making RIT not only a great campus in technological wise but also in health.

Because RIT is a institute that have a vision in making itself a great university in improving itself not only technologically but environmentally and to improve the health for not only RIT community but Rochester as a whole.

RIT is a "dry" campus. How has this impacted alcohol consumption? I agree with the concept of having everyone be smoke free I just don't think its realistic.
Given the fact that people will still smoke, the question is then enforcement. Is that a function we really want Public Safety to have to take on? No.
I would rather focus on more realistic policies to improve the student experience of non-smokers. Your alternative of moving the smoking areas is a more reasonable approach that could be tried.
