Deduce

The Cambridge Dictionary describes te meaning of 'deduce' as follows:

to reach an answer or a decision by thinking carefully about the known facts:
We cannot deduce very much from these figures.
[ + that ] The police have deduced that he must have left his apartment yesterday evening.

Phoenix

To be reborn with renewed energy every season is something that feels like a must in order to survive in Kosovo. I lost all hope for a while. I think I was reborn last night.

The Longman Dictionary online has a short definition of the word:

1 a magic bird that is born from a fire, according to ancient stories

2 → rise like a phoenix from the ashes

Russia and the Soviet Union

Encountered in the Global Policy class. Words that are often confused, abused and misused depending on the context. When Russians use Soviet Union, they often want to hide something. When Russia is used, the West thinks of a militaristic evil state, while Russians see it as a strong country and the icon of all that is good. The 3rd Rome.

These words do not need a dictionary to explain them, but to explain them you would want a simple tool like a dictionary. The implications of their use confront us daily and therefore it is disappointing to not being able to find their in-depth meaning.

Terrorist

Encountered in the Terrorism and Political Violence class.

Are the Uygur terrorists, are the Albanians terrorists or the Serbians? If no one knows, but confirm it with some uncertainty, then the chance of me being designated a terrorist is quite possible. Can reason prevail with such charged terms?
