UDL, Accessibility, and Media Services
Who Is Most Likely Involved Directly: Media Services Group
Goal
Caption Services: will the need to further expand our accessibility practices on video be necessary? Will we need to explore interfaces whereby students can watch a scrolling transcript, captions, and have the option for playing descriptive video? how much of a need or issue will this be? do we wait until someone asks for it and become more proactive about investigating ways to incorporate this into our existing process. (see articles on WCAG AA and Section 508)
DIY Production/Captions: making sure we have comprehensive DIY resources for faculty and students on making accessible video and captions that meet the same criteria we use to caption (ie font size, number of characters, spacing, etc.). For reference, TLS has a Captioning page on the TLS Media Services site. Does this need to be reviewed?
The following steps and process documentation details are for TLS-internal use only.
