Importing Questions From Other Formats

Existing questions can be imported into Respondus from other file formats, such as Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX), plain text, rich text, CSV, or StudyMate class format. For instructions on how to prepare and format importable quiz files, and to download a formatted DOCX file, see Formatting Quizzes for Import.

How to Import Questions

  1. From the Start menu, click the Import Questions button.
  2. Select the Type of file being imported.
  3. Make sure that the file to be imported follows the formatting guidelines.
  4. For File name, click the Browse button on the right and select the file being imported.
    Info

If your quiz contains images and is a Microsoft Word document (DOC or DOCX file), the Image Folder field will be automatically populated after selecting File name. For other file types, be sure to select the proper Image Folder on your computer (i.e. the folder where your quiz's images are located).

  5. Either Append the questions to the current document if you have one open or Create a new document and give it a name.
  6. Choose the Type of file to create (Exam or Survey).
  7. Optionally, add a "stem" (prefix) to each question number to create a title.
  8. Use the Preview button to check for problems.

Your preview will display in the Preview results area, along with any warnings.
  9. Click the Finish button.

You will then be taken to the Edit menu where you can edit questions, if desired.
