In order to get an account with Research Computing, you’ll need to first log in to and follow the steps listed there on your profile page.

We use the database that backs that site as a repository of the “who’s who?” of Research Computing. We often generate statistics of how much our resources are being used, and which departments are using them. We’re also particularly interested in any publications that may come out of your work, so please list them.

If you’re a student, once you’ve logged into the site you’ll need to find your advisor’s profile and link yourself to them. You’ll also need to ‘affiliate’ with one of their research entries before we’ll give you access. If your advisor doesn’t have an entry in our database, please ask them to login and one will be created for them. If you don’t have an advisor at all, please just email us at

If you’re a faculty member or RIT staff, once you’ve logged in you’ll just need to login and create a ‘research entry’ that denotes what you’re doing and what resources you’ll need to get your work done. If you’re not sure, you can just email us at and we can help you through the process.

If you’ve already done the above and you’ve been notified that your account has been created, the next step is to read the document on apply. Upon successful login, your account will be created and access to Research Computing will be granted.
