Vendor Documentation
Historique de la page
All tools of myCourses where information can be deleted will ask for confirmation before actually removing the item. This process is intended to get the user to pause and take a moment to think before taking action. We understand that mistakes do happen on occasion, and this document will help users understand what is recoverable and how much effort is required to perform that work.
myCourses Backups
myCourses is backed up for disaster recovery of the entire system, not for long term archiving. The backup window is 30 days. After that we will not be able to recover anything.
Restoration vs Recovery
Restoration of information means this information can be restored in place on myCourses.
Please refer to the table at the end of this document for the available restoration options. Many tools have built-in options to restore information that an instructor can do themselves.
Recovery of information means the information can be gathered from a backup but cannot be restored in place directly into myCourses. The recovered information will be provided in another format such as a text file.
Effort
The work required to restore or recover information varies. Turn-around of the task is dependent on the availability of the vendor or RIT staff to perform the work, the effort of a task does not imply how quickly the task can be done.
High effort tasks require a significant investment of time, effort and staff time. These tasks are not undertaken lightly and we ask that all other avenues of recovering or recreating the work be considered before requesting that task.

Can only be restored on the day it occurred. This must take place before the automated system garbage collection routines are run with the daily feed that starts about ~3:00am Eastern.
