I have learned that working in an online group with different cultures, nationalities, age and background is incredibly difficult. Especially when everyone has Administrator rights, but no responsibilities. Furthermore there were no consequences to the actions of each member. This seems a lethal combination for such a project. Deleting someone's work does not lead to banishment, adding biased data lowering the value of the page has as only consequence that the other members work efforts become rather obsolete, different views on a subject generally do not lead to a balanced view and so on. This is in itself a very interesting learning point. It makes me appreciate some of the Wiki's on the internet, but it also opens my eyes on the value of some of the information on the web. It is always worth to dig deeper in the background of the creators of the page. This will likely explain more about the information found on their web page.
My interactions and views on how to approach this assignment are based on what I learned in web design classes and how I experience the internet as a user. I suggested a more Wikipedia like Layout in order to create familiarity with the user, but very few, if any of the other group members agreed with that design suggestion. The current design is not bad, but I doubt it is a design that can stand the test of time. As a single page (or 3 pages) it can possibly find a place on the internet. But as a bases for an ever expanding Wiki this is not the best design.
Engaging via the comment section was not an easy task. Single comments without any indication of content made it very difficult to read and to take action. I made a few attempts to have individuals keep the comment section organised, but to no avail. In hindsight, we should have made different sections for comments.
