We recommend starting with a copy of the Course Default instead of creating a new blank homepage to save time.

...

You will now have a new homepage in the list titled Course Default - Copy.

Setting an active Homepage

A course can have one active homepage for that course that is available to the class.

...

Editing a Homepage

To edit a homepage click on the title of the homepage in the listing.

On the Edit Homepage page you can customize a variety of settings. We cover the basics here. It is recommend that you do not adjust settings we don't mention until you have familiarized yourself with them in the vendor's documentation shared at the start of this article.

The Name field can be set to a name that makes sense to you. The Name and Description are only seen in the Homepages tool, they are not shared with the class.

The majority of the editing is devoted to managing the Widgets shown and their layout on the homepage.

When you are done making changes, click the Save and Close or Save button to complete your work.

Widgets

The blocks of information on a homepage are called Widgets. There are a number of widgets available to use, plus Instructors can create their own simple text widgets.

Adding a Widget

When editing a Homepage the majority of the Edit Homepage form is to manage the Widgets on the page and their layout under the Widgets heading.

The layout breaks the page up into panels, indicated by the dotted lines, which represent areas of the homepage and their general position on the page. In the default Large Left Panel layout, pictured in part above, widgets placed in the top panel will span the full width of the page, where a widget placed in the right-hand column will only span one-third of the page down that right-hand column.

The selected widget will be added to the bottom of the list in the panel you added it to.

Arranging Widgets

Arranging or reordering widgets is simple with drag and drop.
