Who can use Panopto to store videos?
Panopto is for recording/editing/streaming course-related videos only. Instructors receive creator access to Panopto course-specific folders as well as a "My Folder" that is general to their account. In order to maintain and operate this service for all courses, instructors should not store videos in Panopto that are not used in courses. Students are able to use Panopto only in the context of viewing videos, submitting videos to assignments/discussions/quiz answers within a course, and completing in-video quiz questions. Staff do not have access to Panopto.
Are there storage limits in Panopto?
RIT's current usage volume of the tool does not require us to enforce storage size, quantity, or longevity limits. Instructors are responsible for proper stewardship of RIT resources and should regularly review their Panopto libraries to remove unneeded materials in compliance with C22.0 Records Management Policy. Additionally, Panopto is a streaming media service and is not intended to serve as longer term storage for inactive video files. Instructors should have a local backup of course videos published to Panopto. This page has been moved to the new CTL Knowledge Base.
I get too many emails from Panopto about my videos. How can I unsubscribe?
