In Google Docs

All RIT users with a RIT Google account can use Turnitin Draft Coach within Google Docs to run a similarity check, citations check, and grammar check on their draft documents while writing.

For Other File Types

RIT Instructors can use the Turnitin website to check similarity on RIT-related documents that are not tied to a specific course such as theses, dissertations, or papers for publication.

The account you will use to log into the Turnitin website is separate from your RIT username and password.

If you have previously used Turnitin as an instructor in any of your myCourses courses, then you already have a Turnitin account. If this is the first time you are accessing Turnitin via the website or if you don't remember your separate password, do the following:

  1. Go to the Turnitin Website login screen.
  2. Click the link for Forgot your Password.
  3. Enter your RIT email address. This must be in the same format as myCourses uses. You can view your email address tied to your myCourses account in the Classist tool.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete the password reset process.
  5. Log into the Turnitin website using your new password.

If you have never used Turnitin as an instructor in any of your myCourses courses, you will need to request an account. Email turnitin@rit.edu with the following information:
