At the current time, only files in your Google My Drive folders can be accessed from the myCourses Google Workspace integration. There is currently no access to Google Shared Drive folders from the myCourses Google Workspace integration. This is something that the vendors plan to add in the future.

Google Workspace myCourses Homepage Widgets

Student accounts will have Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google My Drive information sync to the Google Workspace widgets. Faculty/Staff accounts will only have Google My Drive information sync to the Google Workspace widgets. Gmail and Google Calendar portions of the widgets will remain empty for Faculty/Staff accounts because Faculty/Staff accounts do not have access to these Google apps.

There are two widgets:

  • Access Google Workspace: This summary widget provides quick access to select Google apps. It also provides students with a count of  their unread Gmail and upcoming Google Calendar Events. It is available on the main myCourses homepage and can optionally be added to course homepages by instructors. After linking your account, you can click the items in the widget to open the Google apps in new tabs.

  • Google Workspace: This tabbed widget syncs a list of items you have within select Google apps. The widget can optionally be added to course homepages by instructors. After linking your account, you can click the individual items in the widget to open the Google items in new tabs. Click the Cog icon to customize which tabs/Google apps show in your widget.

Adding a Google Workspace Widget to a Course Homepage

Instructors can optionally add the Access Google Workspace (summary) widget or the Google Workspace (tabbed) widget to their course home page. Review Customizing your Homepage with Widgets for details.
