This article describes how the environment in Kosovo is pressured from urbanization, agriculture, industrialization, and economic development. Kosovo is a new country, and it is adopting gradually the environmental laws and regulations, and government is struggling to introduce these laws and implement programs regarding environment. This article focuses in the energy sector, water pollution, air pollution. But also, there are proposals to construct water system and provide recommendations for technical assistance, monitoring of equipments, and strengthening the water regional companies to solve the problem of water losses and water pollution.
Also this article provides recommendations for energy sector, to redesign old mining systems, privatization of KEK, and improve the performance of existing plants to achieve energy efficiency and to avoid air pollution.
