This study points out the conditions of the Trepca mine and the environmental impact that it has on the life of the nearby citizens. It talks on how Kosovo should not advance economically while damaging the environment, but should rather advance environmentally and by this create situations where it would benefit in both economic and environmental aspect.

The online article contains environmental analyses about Accounting for Significant Pollution Cost in Kosovo.  The analyses are focused in measuring the air pollution caused by energy production and other environmental effects such as water shortages, climate change, loss of agricultural production, and risk from mercury etc. Furthermore, it describes the idea about building another power plant “Kosovo C” and closing “Kosovo A” power plant.  In one hand, building a new thermo power plant would provide more energy, but on the other hand, it would be more costly and it shows no change toward the environment issues because of using coal as a source and polluting air and land. The article also focuses in underestimating health cost created by air pollution, death rates, annual PM concentrations and other health effects. Since article is concentrated on underestimation cost of these damages it also provides recommendations for improvement.
