Why can't I submit a quiz/assignment? The submit button is grayed out.

The most likely reasons that the submit button is grayed out or that you cannot submit a quiz or assignment are:

  • The quiz/assignment is past due. Please check the due date and time for the quiz/assignment.  If the quiz/assignment is past due, it is closed for submissions and cannot be reopened.
  • You have used up all of your attempts at a question. The number of attempts is listed near the submit button. If you have used up all of your attempts, you cannot submit new answers for that question.
  • You have not answered all parts of the question. If you left a question blank – with no response – then the submit button will be grayed out until you select answers. Ensure that all parts of the question are completed.
