Do I have to participate in the discussion forum?  Are discussions required for a grade?

Discussion forum participation is encouraged, but it is optional and not required for a grade. Discussions are meant to enhance your learning by hearing perspectives from your fellow students and encouraging you to think about a topic at a deeper level.
