The Institutional Profile page is a place where students can update their contact information.  This information is visible by faculty, academic, and support advisors.

 


  1. Access Starfish through: 
    1. myCourses by clicking the Starfish button or the hyperlink
    2. SIS by clicking the Starfish tile on your Student Home page
  2. From the Starfish My Success Network page, click the navigation menu (upper left corner of the screen), click your name, and then click Edit Profile 

  3. Edit your information:
    1. Photo: Photos from SIS are displayed in Starfish and can not be edited
    2. Username: University ID (UID) is pulled from SIS
    3. Institutional Email: RIT email is pulled from SIS
    4. Alternate Email: 
      1. If you would like to have communications also sent to an alternate email address, add your other email address and then click the box for Send notifications to my alternate email address 
      2. If you would like to have communications sent via text message, add the email address for your mobile phone following the format listed when you click the phone icon and then click the box for Send notifications to my alternate email address 
    5. Phone: This information is pulled from SIS, if it's inaccurate you can update in the box
    6. Cell Phone: If your cell phone is stored in SIS, it will display here and you can update it 
    7. Video Phone: If you have a video phone, you may enter the information here
    8. Time Zone: The default is (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time, if you are taking classes from any other timezone, check the Display all time zones button and then select your time zone
    9. Weekly Updates: It is recommended that you leave this box checked, you will only receive an email if there are any changes to your Success Network
    10. Reminder Preferences: We recommend that you leave the default reminder checked so that you receive a reminder about advising appointments set up in Starfish.
      1. If you would like to receive an email reminder about your appointment before a meeting, check the box and select the timing of the reminder
      2. If you would like to receive an email reminder about your appointment first thing in the morning, we recommend leaving the default 8:00am email reminder checked
    11. Click the Submit button to save all changes you have made to the page
