This research paper talks about the environmental challenges that Kosovo faces from the pollution that is caused by the old power plants in Obiliq and the dirty coal mines. It is based on other research that has been done in this field and it is written in English. Its main objective is to reduce the environmental impacts of the energy use and to promote environmental awareness to the people.

This article is a report made by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning in order to raise the major environmental problems in Kosovo. Furthermore, the main purpose of this report was also to present the audience the main environmental problems that directly the health and lives of people living in Kosovo, so that the audience would pay more attention and care more about the environmental problems. In this report, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning talks about the Geography and the Climate in Kosovo, Economy and its impact on the environment, Agriculture, Water and its quality, the Energy in Kosovo and the pollution from the Energy, Mining and the environment, Air, Waste, and finally the impact of the environmental pollution in the lives and the health of Kosovo citizens (Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, 2003).

This also discusses the major climate changes that have been going on in Kosovo and its environment due to a vast amount of pollution being emitted from old energy power plants. They talk about how the Kosovo legislation that is covering the issue of the environment is having a hard time actually implementing and enforcing it, and that environmental awareness in general is very low among the public of Kosovo.

This article is a final report written by UNEP and UNCHS on the Kosovo Conflict and the consequences of this conflict on the environment. Moreover, this final report explains the whole war consequences on the industrial sites, water, biodiversity etc. Additionally, in this report they compare the environmental issues such as air, water, waist etc. before and after the Kosovo conflict so that the reader can clearly notice the consequences of war on the environment. Finally the report is concluded with some recommendations for dealing with these environmental issues that negatively affect the lives of people living in this area (UNEP, UNCHS, 1999).

This report is made by the USAID mission in Kosovo on the Environmental Threats    
and Opportunities Assessment. In this report, USAID has shared information on current environmental conditions such as: water, air, energy, agriculture, ecosystems etc. Despite the threat from these environmental issues this report also states the indicators of these environmental damages and gives recommendations on the necessary actions that must be taken in order to protect the environment and how to deal with these environmental issues (USAID Kosovo, 2009).
