This facility is currently functioning as the preliminary reception center for the submitting of purchase proposals for consideration by the project’s finance department. If you have something you believe is truly vital to the success of the project, you may post a proposal for its purchase here. The funds available to purchase various software and hardware utilities are currently very limited for the pre-testing phase of the project. Once it is recognized as a significant enough priority, a budgetary meeting will be held to determine specific budgets for purchasing hardware and software. At this time, more funds will become available for purchasing stuff once the $10,500 budget the class has at its disposal has been properly subdivided into a set of smaller specific funds. Until then, bear with me here, as this system is still in its developmental stages.
The basic proposal consists of just a few simple things, be sure to include:
- What exactly it is you're looking to purchase.
- Why specifically it is important we purchase it.
- How we would use it in our project.
- How much it costs.
- Where it can be purchased.
[WARNING: BE VERY SPECIFIC IN DESCRIBING WHAT SPECIFICALLY MAKES AN ITEM WORTH PURCHASING. IF A SIMILAR PRODUCT CAN BE FOUND WITHIN A FEW SHORT MINUTES OF SEARCHING, THAT MEETS ALL THE REQUIREMENTS YOU LISTED AS IMPORTANT, AND COSTS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS, DO NOT EXPECT YOUR PROPOSAL TO GET APROVED.]
No single person currently possesses the sole, individual authority to approve or refuse any of these proposals as of currently. It is a decision that is made through democratic process within The Finance Department. Additionally, any decision made can ultimately be overridden by instructors Maria Helguera and Joe Pow.

Hardware group is requesting to purchase a USB 3.0 hub. It is specifically called a Cable Matters Super Speed 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub Ultra Compact Design w/ 3 ft USB 3.0 Cable & 12V 3A Power Adapter and can be purchased on Amazon.com. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0089MJTTE/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=&gclid=CLLoiKGBu7MCFQvznAod-nEAJQ) It costs $44.95 and shipping is free if we choose the 5-8 day shipping option. We need this for testing because one of the possibilities we are exploring for the multicamera array is multiple USB 2.0 cameras attached to a 3.0 hub. This would solve any bandwidth and data speed issues. Purchasing this hub would be very helpful for testing this solution and adds flexibility to what we can test. We choose this specific model because it is compatible with a wide range of software and interfaces, allowing the greatest amount of flexibility.
