| Tracking Items | Tracking items are areas that can be monitored in Early Alert; there are 2 types in Early Alert: Flags and Kudos For example: “Poor Class Participation” or “Keep Up the Good Work” |
| Flags | Flags are raised to indicate a concern about a student For example: “Poor Attendance” |
| Kudos | Kudos are used to let a student know they are doing well in a course For example: "Keep Up the Good Work" |
| Progress Survey | A survey that provides an easy way for instructors to report multiple concerns on multiple students at once (from a class roster). Surveys can include multiple tracking items and be customized for the time of the term, special populations, etc. |
| Flag Raiser | For User Flags only, this allows users with the specified Role to raise the Tracking Item for a student with whom they have a relationship. |
| Connection | Connections identify the relationships a user has with a student. Instructor only: Is able to raise a flag and view student information about the course they are teaching. Instructor and Advisor: Is able to raise a flag about a student for the course they are teaching as well as view student information about the course they are teaching and all other courses in which the student is enrolled. Advisor only: Is able to view student information about all courses in which a student is enrolled. |
| Comment | Comments are a type of note. Comments are connected to specific early alert tracking items and add more detail to the tracking item. It is an option to share the comment with the student and the flag raiser. |
| Message | A message is an email sent from the Early Alert system, it is captured in the student folder but is not affiliated with an Early Alert tracking item. |
| Resolve Tracking Items | Anyone who can manage an Early Alert tracking item can also clear the item when the item has been addressed with the student. For Example: Clear the Flag |
| Clear the Flag | Clearing the flag indicates that an Early Alert tracking item has been addressed with the student and the student understands teh concern and can articulate a plan to change behavior. Anyone who can Manage the flag can Clear the Flag |
| Close the Loop | When a flag is cleared, this is an opportunity to send an email to the flag raiser notifying them that the tracking item has been cleared. Anyone who can Manage the flag can Close the Loop, the Flag Raiser does not have the Close the Loop option (but they can Clear the Flag). |
| Student Folder | This is where you can view all Early Alert tracking items as well as where you can add a new tracking item on a particular student. |
| Profile | Information people can see about you, also where you set up your email notification preferences. |
