| Flag Raiser | The Flag Raiser is the instructor who initiates an alert for a student with whom they have a connection. |
| Connection | Connections identify the relationships a user has with a student. Users may have multiple connections and will be able to access student information based on those connections. Instructor: Is able to access student information related to the course(s) they are teaching. Advisor: Is able to access information about all courses in which an advisee is enrolled. |
| Comment | Comments are a type of note. Comments are connected to specific early alert tracking items and are designed to provide additional information and detail to the tracking item. There is an option to share the comment with the student and the flag raiser. |
| Message | A message is an email sent from the instructor to the student via the Early Alert system. It is captured in the student folder but is not affiliated with a specific Early Alert tracking item. |
| Resolve Tracking Items | Based on a user's connection with a student, a flag can be cleared when the concern has been addressed with the student. The instructor and advisors can all clear flags. For Example: Clear Flag or Remove Kudo |
| Clear Flag | Clearing the flag indicates that an Early Alert tracking item has been addressed with the student and the student understands the concern and can articulate a plan to change behavior. The instructor and advisors can all clear flags. |
| Close the Loop | When a flag is cleared by an advisor, there is an opportunity to send an email to the flag raiser (instructor) notifying them that the tracking item has been cleared: Close the Loop. The Flag Raiser does not have the Close the Loop option (but they can Clear Flag). |
| Student Folder | In the Student Folder you can view all Early Alert tracking items as well as add a new tracking item for a particular student. |
| Profile | The profile includes information people can see about you, and is also where you set-up your email notification preferences. |
