If you wish to check your student email on your personal mobile device, you will need to know your RIT Google Apps Password and enable IMAP on your RIT Gmail.

To set your RIT Google Apps password, go to http://start.rit.edu/ and click on Google Apps at RIT.  Login using your RIT Computer Account username and password.  From here, you can set your RIT Google Apps password.  It is strongly recommended you use a different password than your RIT Computer Account password.

Once done, you will need to enable IMAP on your RIT GMail.  Do this by signing into your RIT GMail from http://google.rit.edu/ using your RIT Computer Account username and password.  Once signed in, do the following:

  1. Click the gear in the top right
  2. Select Settings
  3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  4. Select Enable IMAP.
  5. Click Save Changes.

You can now configure your personal device to check your RIT GMail via IMAP.  Use your @g.rit.edu instead of @rit.edu for your email address and use your RIT Google Apps password instead of your RIT Computer Account password.
