The "Notifications" page is a place where users can update their notification preferences.  The default setting delivers the Recent Tracking Item Summary daily at 1 am.  Please note that the delivery time is not exact, but the Recent Tracking Item Summary should be delivered within an hour of your selected time.

  1. Access Starfish through: 
    1. myCourses by clicking the Starfish button or the hyperlink
    2. SIS by clicking the Starfish tile on the Teaching, Advising & Support page
  2. From the Starfish homepage, click the navigation Menu in the upper left corner of the screen
    1. Click the arrow next to your name to display a drop-down menu
    2. Select Notifications


  3. In the first section, Email Notifications, you can toggle on/off notifications to an alternate email if you previously set one when configuring your profile. Please do NOT turn off notifications to your Institutional Email.


  4. In the next section, Preferences, you can set your text and email notifications. 

    1. Under Appointments:

      1. Choose one of the following as your Planning Reminders preference:

        • Don’t send me planning reminders – select this option for the fewest number of emails (You will still receive appointment reminders in a summary email each day and reminders in Outlook will still work.)

        • Send me a notification individually for each appointment – receive email reminder(s) sent separately for each of the day’s appointments

        • Send me a digest of all appointments - receive one email reminder each day (at a time which you designate) with a list of your appointments for the day
      2. Decide if you would like Alert Reminders emailed to you before the start of the meeting. (Your Outlook reminder “bell” will work if you have it set up, the Appointment Alert would be an email in addition to the reminder bell.)

    2. Under Tracking Items, customize your preferences for receiving communications regarding your students tracking items (flags, kudos, etc.,) 
      1. Under Summary Emails update the time you would like to receive the summary digest email of all tracking item and appointment activity, commonly referred to as the “Recent Tracking Item Summary”. Set your Summary Emails (Recent Tracking Item Summary) to be delivered after 6am EST. This ensures you receive the Recent Tracking Item Summary even if there is an overnight planned system outage (which typically occur between 12am – 6am).
      2. To receive an individual email every time a new tracking item is raised or cleared for every student you can check the corresponding box(es) fir an immediate notification for New item raised or Item cleared

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.
