Review General Recording Tips for advice on making good recordings. To make it easier for viewers to identify your video, include your own name as part of the video title or file name. 

Student Captioning Options

RIT Student Guidelines for Captioning Audio Visual Media

Students who voice can generate automatic speech recognition (ASR) captioning on their videos and edit the ASR captions. Students who sign can manually type captions on Panopto Videos.

RIT-supported Student Editing Option

Students can use the Panopto web portal editor with any videos recorded in Panopto or uploaded to Panopto from another source (e.g. file created in the Expressive Communication Center).

Submitting a Video Assignment

  1. Open the myCourses Assignment.
  2. In the text editor, click the Insert Stuff button

  3. Click Panopto.

  4. In the folder dropdown, select the folder that your instructor told you to save to. You will need to expand down the RIT myCourses folder and will likely need to expand down multiple levels to get to the correct folder. It will always be one of the folders with "[assignments]" in the name.


  5. Upload a video file from your device or Choose a video you have already uploaded to your Panopto Web Portal. 

  6. Click the green Insert button in the Panopto frame then the blue Insert button at the bottom of the popup.

  7. Your video will appear embedded in the text editor of the assignment submission. Once you are ready, click Submit to submit your assignment for instructor review.
